FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common questions and answers you need to know
Do I need a boating license to rent?
Illinois doesn’t require a full boating license for adults, but anyone born after Jan 1, 1998 must have a state-approved safety certificate. We also give every renter a quick safety and lake-orientation briefing.
What’s included in the rental price?
Life jackets (PFDs) sized for everyone on board, a full tank of fuel, throwable flotation cushions, and standard safety gear. Taxes are built in—no hidden dock or fuel fees.
Can you deliver the boat to my preferred lake?
Yes! Lake Vermilion, Kennekuk County Park, Sportman’s Lake and Herschel Lake are free. Other lakes incur a small transportation fee—just ask when booking.
What happens if the weather turns bad?
If we cancel for severe weather you get a full refund or can reschedule. If you cancel within 24 hours for non-weather reasons, a 20% fee applies.
Are pets allowed on board?
Well-behaved dogs under 70 lbs are welcome on pontoons and kayaks (bring a dog PFD). Pets aren’t allowed on bass boats or jet skis or paddle boards.
Is there a security deposit?
We place a temporary $50 hold on your credit card at check-in to cover possible damage or late returns. It’s released within 2-3 business days after inspection.
How early should I arrive?
Arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time to handle paperwork, fit life jackets, and do the safety walk-through.
Can I keep the boat overnight?
No, sorry boat rentals are only available daily from 6AM – 8PM.
Do you provide fishing gear?
We don’t rent rods or tackle, but we sell basic rigs and bait on-site and can point you to the best bait shops or local guides.
